Transformative Change

Meditation is the practice of making the mind quiet. It has been practiced for thousands of years. Some people meditate as a spiritual practice, others for health reasons. The stilling of the mind and the focus within is said, by some religions, to bring one closer to spiritual awareness. The people who mediate for health reasons believe that quieting the mind gives them peace from worry and stress and helps them relax.
Whatever your reasons for meditating, the benefits do not end when you stop meditating. The sense of peace and calms stays with you for a long time. The more you meditate the longer the feeling stays with you. It can be quite energizing.
With continued practice the inner focus can change how the mind thinks, and, herald transformative change. For example, if a person who is quick to anger starts meditating, and continues the practice, they can effectively control their anger. They can train themselves not to react when something makes them angry. They can learn to do simple techniques, such as counting to ten, when they feel angry.
It is very freeing to respond calmly to triggers that have previously always made one feel angry.
