The Wicomico River Friends who had planned a May Day birding and guided meditation time were not hampered by unexpected rains.
The quaker group did not let a little rain spoil their quiet meditations. They instead decided to move their time of guided meditation indoors.
Since the group wasn't able to sit in lawn chairs watching birds in quiet reflection, they instead listened to bird sounds on a CD. The meeting, which was intended to introduce the church to their many neighbors, was simple and profoud as are all quaker ceremonies. When it was time to discuss the days events the gentle group leader passed around a seashell and asked each person there to put it to their ear and reflect on how they felt.
It is very likely that this meditative session did a good thing for the neighborhood, introducing many to the somewhat mysterious quaker religion as well as the great peace that meditation can bring.
