Alternative to Medicine

Meditation means different things to different people. Some people think of meditation as an alternative to medical therapy. Many doctors prescribe meditation rather than medication if their patients are suffering from stress. Meditation is also recommended for people with high blood pressure or trouble going to sleep at night. The relaxed state of mind and body is believed to reduce blood pressure and relax tension in the body so you can sleep. It is so successful as an alternative to medication that some people try meditation automatically rather than wait until their doctor prescribes it.
Some people expect to be told what they will experience. They think meditation is about experiencing a very specific thing, almost as if it is a lesson in school where 2+2 = 4. In fact, thousands of people meditating can experience thousands of different things. Meditation is not a performance where you get the same result each time. Meditation is a simple, safe, and cost free way to maintain health.
